Special Screening Of "Root, Hog, Or Die."

Come join us at Mohawk High School on March 25th at 7pm for an evening of education and entertainment as the Franklin Land Trust presents a special screening of the 1978 film “Root Hog or Die,” directed by Rawn Fulton. This timeless film tells the story of the simple and rugged lifestyle of farmers in Franklin County and Windham County, Vermont. Fulton began working on the film in 1973, just a year after moving to Franklin County from Brooklyn, NY with his wife, Cynthia. Through this film, Fulton captures the mutualistic relationship between the farmer and the land, as they shape and are shaped by one another. The film follows farmers through a year’s cycle of logging, haying, dairying, and sugaring and provides a raw look at the grueling realities of farming in New England. Rawn Fulton will be in attendance to provide an introduction to the film and will participate in a Q&A session with the audience after the screening. Fulton’s film celebrates the history, the people, and the geography that give Franklin County its unique sense of place. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a true gem of documentary filmmaking . We look forward to seeing you there!
